There is no universal formula
Universities and boards use different grading scales and conversion rules. A formula published by one institution may not be accepted by another, so check your transcript guidance, academic handbook, or official admissions instructions first.
Apply the stated conversion factor
If an institution explicitly uses percentage = CGPA × 9.5, a CGPA of 8.4 converts to 79.8%. Other institutions may use a different multiplier, a lookup table, or a formula based on the maximum CGPA.
Keep enough decimal precision during the calculation and round only the final result according to the institution's instructions.
Report the result clearly
When an application requests both values, provide the original CGPA, grading scale, converted percentage, and conversion rule. If an official conversion certificate is required, a calculator result is not a substitute.
